Beyt Dwarka, also known as Shankhodhar, is said to have been the residence of Lord Krishna during his ruling years at Dwarka. It derived its name from the word 'bet' which translates to 'gift' and is believed that Lord Krishna received it from his friend Sudama.

Located on the route between Dwarka city and Beyt Dwarka Island on the coast of Saurashtra in Gujarat is this important Lord Shiva Temple. It is enshrined by one of the 12 swayambhu (self-existent) jyothirlingas in the world, in an underground sanctum.

Located relatively on the outskirts, the Rukmini Mata Temple commemorates Lord Krishna's queen. The temple is said to be more than 2500 years old but it may have been reconstructed over time. The present temple is said to belong to the 12th century.

The Dwarkadhish Temple, also known as Jagat Mandir, was originally built by Vajranabha, the great grandson of Lord Krishna, on the banks of Gomti river in 400 BC. This five storied limestone structure stretching to a height of 170 feet is supported by 72 pillars and is located in the heart of the city. A huge flag on its magnificently carved dome is made from 52 yards of cloth and can be seen from a distance of almost 10 kms. Interestingly, this flag, also referred to as Dwajaa, is changed five times a day. There are two entrances to this temple; the northern gate from the main market is called Moksha Dwar whereas the southern gate is called Swarg Dwar. The latter leads to the Gomti river, 56 steps below. Devotees usually visit the Dwarkadhish temple after taking a dip in the Gomti river. Kirti Mandir is a memorial shrine in Porbandar, Gujarat, India, established in remembrance of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi. The Gandhi family's ancestral home, where Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, lies right next to the Kirti Mandir.
